Man, 25, remanded for allegedly stabbing friend to death in Lagos

Lagos – An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has remanded a 25-year-old, Akeem Alabede, at Ikoyi Prisons over alleged murder of his friend,
Azeez Lawal.
Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi gave the order at the arraignment of Alabede, who was charged with stabbing Lawal to death with a broken bottle.
He ordered that the accused should remain behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused, a carpenter, is facing a lone- count charge of murder.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Feddy Asu, told the court that the offence was committed on April 26 at 10.30 p.m. at Sunday Sonola Street, Mafoluku in Oshodi, Lagos.
He said both the accused and the deceased were invited to a carnival at Oshodi and got embroiled in a heated argument.
“Alabede, who was drunk, picked a broken bottle and stabbed Azeez on the neck which led to his death.’’
Asu said the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case has been adjourned to July 2 pending the DPP’s advice. (NAN)
